Our Sustainable Exhibition Stand at The Lakes Hospitality Trade Show 2023
We recently attended the 46th Lakes Hospitality Trade Show, a fantastic day for businesses from a range of industries to come together and connect with new and existing customers. The event had a record-breaking attendance of over 150 businesses exhibiting, with nearly 2,000 people visiting over the 2-day event. As the tourism and hospitality sector continues to grow in the Lake District and Cumbria, businesses have a responsibility to protect the local environment. As a result, they're looking for ways to market their business more sustainably.
Here at Reeds, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and we champion an inclusive and socially responsible culture. We aim to help other businesses promote themselves in a more sustainable way. Our stand at this year's event showcased the ways we can support the hospitality industry, from print materials to signage and websites.
Designing an Exhibition Stand with Sustainability in Mind
Our graphic designer, Becca, developed a design that reflected our mission to support the hospitality sector in creating a positive impact through sustainable marketing. We used textures and colours that reflect the natural environment and incorporated simple, hand-drawn illustrations throughout the exhibition design for a more handcrafted and creative approach.
Eco-friendly Materials
We aimed to showcase the best of our sustainable materials. To make the most of the space available, we printed backdrops on a natural, canvas banner material. We produced 3D elements with Ultra Board, a lightweight, fibre-based board with a recycled paper honeycomb centre. The material is completely recyclable and produced in partnership with the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture scheme. The eco-friendly material was used to create eye-catching cubes and a podium, printed with our artwork and creative sustainability messaging. The podium was our main interaction point with visitors and prompted them to discuss our website carbon report, which outlines how much carbon their website uses and how to reduce this figure to have a more environmentally conscious website. It was a great talking point for the day.
We handed out numerous flyers and brochures outlining the ways we can help businesses market their brand more sustainably. Our printed materials were printed on paper sourced through our partnership with the Woodland Trust, a national tree-planting scheme that offsets the carbon footprint of our paper supplies. Lastly, to make a lasting impression on anyone who visited our exhibition stand, we handed out bee-loving flowers. The flower pots had stickers on them featuring bold messages that reinforced our mission and theme. We believed this would be a great way to give out something unique and memorable while also helping to sustain the natural environment.
A Successful Day
The result was a fantastic two days! We designed and produced an eye-catching stand that encouraged visitors to discuss sustainable marketing and consider why it's important to them.
